Every since I was a child, I never really liked the taste of water or like drinking water. Even if I was super dehydrated, I’ll opt for something else or avoid water. It wasn’t until recently, I decided no– I’m going to drink at least 3 – 5 cups of water a day.
Here are some tips and tricks I’ve been doing:
GLASS OF WATER IN THE MORNING
Always keep a glass of water by the bed. Drinking it in the morning helps boost your metabolism by 24%.
GLASS OF WATER BEFORE EACH MEAL
Sometimes we think we’re hungry but we are actually thirsty. If you drink a glass of water 20 – 30 minutes before a meal it’ll help determine if you’re hungry or thirsty. By drinking water before a meal it also reduces the amount of calories consumed. A good way to avoid overeating and staying hydrated.
Busy? Always forgetting to drink water? Set an alarm on your device for every 30 minutes or hour, and drink a glass of water before the alarm rings again.
TRACK YOUR CONSUMPTION
There are a few ways to track your consumption.
- Elastic Bands or Hair ties
Have elastic bands or hair ties for every cup of water you’re suppose to drink on your water bottle or wrist.
If you are keeping the bands on your wrist, everything you drink one cup. Move the band onto the other wrist.
If you are keeping the bands on your cup or bottle. You could keep the bands on the bottom of the bottle, and when you drink one cup. Move the band to the top. Vice Versa.
- App or Calendar
There are many apps now that are able to track your fitness and diet.
On the iPhone, it comes with an app called Health. This app you’re able to track your Fitness & Exercise, Food & Nutrition, and Health & Wellness. To track your water consumption, click into “Food & Nutrition” and scroll down until you see water.
There are also recommended apps for tracking water if you do not want to use the “Health” app.
If you’re using a Samsung device, the app “S Health” allows you to track your water intake on the first page.
If you’ll like to track your consumption manually, you could use an agenda or desktop calendar. A simple example would be drawing empty circles and fill them in every time you drink a cup of water.
